NSA Unveils National Scrapbooking Day Logo

Today the National Scrapbooking Association unveiled the National Scrapbooking Day logo designed to promote the day dedicated to the popular, growing hobby and the complementary web site, NationalScrapbookingDay.com.
The logo, designed by Carol Sikora of Empress Concepts, depicts a figure in action with scrapbooking-related symbols set in an arc above. The figure is neither male nor female, neither young nor old, signifying that the hobby is open and appealing to all. “I created the design to relate to the greatest number of people,” says Sikora.
Sikora’s design was selected from numerous concepts submitted to an open call posted on the NationalScrapbookingDay.com web site. “Carol’s design was selected for the way it inspires people to action and promotes process over product,” states NSA president and co-founder, Veronica Hugger. “The design additionally promotes the NSA’s mission to “expand the passion” of scrapbooking with its far-reaching appeal,” added Hugger.
Various versions of the logo are available for download from NationalScrapbookingDay.com. “All scrapbookers celebrating National Scrapbooking Day are encouraged and permitted to use the logos to promote NSD events,” said Hugger. The logo is available in formats suitable for printing, web sites, and other promotions.

The site encourages scrapbookers to submit and search for events and ideas on how to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. The free service also invites scrapbookers to sign a petition to recognize National Scrapbooking Day, traditionally the first Saturday in May. This year National Scrapbooking Day is Saturday, May 6, 2006.
