Scrapbooking Supplies?

I’m thinking about starting a scrapbook for my family. What are some basic tools I need? Where can I find information on the basics of scrapbooking to help me get started? On what website can I go to buy some cheap supplies? What advise would you give a beginner?

Go to your library. Mine had several good books on starting and what supplies to get. Also look at the magazines for paper craft or scrapbooking ones. You should be able to check out old issues.
Don’t buy cheap supplies. Try to use coupons for JoAnn’s, Micheal’s or Hobby lobby sales to buy quality tools.
IF you have an Archiver’s by you they have free beginner scrapbooking and rubber stamping classes. Taking a class if you can is a good idea and fun.

Here’s a scrapbooking site that has a beginner scrapbooking forum. You should find some helpful scrappers there if you choose to ask questions, or you can just read some of the information already posted.http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?c…
Have fun!

I would go to http://www.scrapbook.com. I used this site a ton the last time I made a scrapbook. Its free and is way better than the books with ideas that you can buy at craft stores. There are a TON of examples on there that people have posted and I found them very helpful for ideas.
Generally, you really don’t need a ton to make one- it really depends on how “fancy” you want it to be. I make a scrapbook every time I take a vacation and each book ends up costing around $300 in the end. This is just because I buy so much stuff though, so it gets expensive. All you really need is the book, page inserts, paper, pens, and photos. Then the rest is basically just up to you. I don’t know if you have a Hobby Lobby around your area, but I’ve found that their scrapbook section is much more extensive and WAY cheaper than other places like Michaels. Also, they usually have a printable coupon on their website for 40% of pretty much anything in the store. I would definitely recommend Hobby Lobby, but i’m not sure about any good online stores, sorry.
